eHow Day 68 of One Hundred Days Of Discovery

Well one of my discoveries is that it can be hard to get back into the swing of blogging when you have a break.

But enough of that!

Today I discovered a fantastic website called eHow.  At eHow you can find out how to do just about anything. How did I do this. Well… Kerrie needed a brochure of some discript made up and we dont have publisher so I was doing it in word and could not make the the text sit beside the photo only above and below (very frustrating).

But then I discovered eHow! How? On Google of course “wrap text around photo in word”. eHow gave me the instructions I needed to wrap the text around the photo. Find out for yourself here.

Another useful trick I learned (have not tried it myself) is how to remove photos of yourself from facebook that you did not put there. So if you have some less than flatering photos put up by so called friends try this out – remove photos.

I am sure there are many more so I’m off to have a look around.

Our Dependence On Technology – 100 Days Of Discovery – Day 67

Our Dependence On Technology

Today started beautifully. Sitting beside a window and watching the sun rise over the mountains near Beechworth in Victoria – A magical site just enjoying the simple things and being in the moment, enjoying Gods creation.

Then as we neared Melbourne we discovered that our technology was not serving us well. We had no Internet on the wireless broadband or on the phone. What’s the problem with that you ask? We were relying on them for our directions, as we don’t have a map book for Melbourne.

Oh dear! What are we to do?

Luckily Kerrie has a good sense of direction and had been there a few times before. So with her gut instincts and some well placed signs then a phone call to a friend we made it to all the places we needed to go.

Learning: we have an unhealthy dependence on technology. We did not even have a back up map in the car.

More learning: take a real map next time, just in case.

Laughter The Best Medicine – 100 Days Of Discovery – Day 65

Laughter The Best Medicine

Laughter Is The Best Medicine. Ever heard that? Well so have I and so have most people.

So this is not my discovery for today but it is certainly related.

Here is what I discovered –

• Did you know that a 1 minute laughing session the equivalent of  6 – 10 minutes on a treadmill, man will that save time at the gym.
• The body does not know the difference between a genuine good old belly laugh and a simulated one. So even if you don’t fell like laughing you can just pretend to laugh and get the benefits, you may even feel happier afterward.

Socionomics – One Hundred Days Of Discovery – Day 63

Today I discovered what Socionomics is. It is the study of social mood and its results in social actions. It studies how waves of endogenously regulated social mood in turn regulate changes in the economy, political preferences, financial markets, pop culture, etc.

It is quite interesting as it states that things like hemlines on skirts and the types of movies that are being produced are a reflection of the culture of the time and can be seen in stock market trends.

Here is a video about movie trends in relation to stock market trends. Very interesting.

Yay!!! I Found Them – 100 Days Of Discovery Day 62

Third Day

Yay!!! I found them…

Today I learned where some of my old CD’s were hiding in plain sight. I was very excited to discover them and am currently putting them on my computer so they wont go missing again.

Among the albums found are my Newsboys, 3rd Day and some very old White Heart CD’s. Unfortunatly the one I am looking for “Age Of Faith” is still missing but finding these others has given me hope.

One Hundred Days Of Discovery – Day 61

Hey… Today I discovered that I missed my blog yesterday. We received the layout proof for “Lifting The Lid On Quiet Achievers” and we got caught up going through it.

Today I have been going through it again to make the corrections on the computer version and discovered even more functions and short cuts on my Mac.

I can make notes on a pdf file, sound boring… well yes, it is but someone has to do it. It has taken me several hours and now it’s up to Kerrie to read it again and double check my work then it will be time to go through it together.

Bed now.
